Jehovah Jireh - The God who provides (9)

Prayer is not only asking, but an attitude of mind which produces the atmosphere in which asking is perfectly natural.  — Oswald Chambers After God provided a miraculous son to Abraham and Sarah, He asked the unimaginable. God told Abraham to bring everything needed for a sacrifice to the top of the mountain and there Abraham's faith rose above any expectation. The author of Hebrews gives us some insight into what happened in that moment: " By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,   even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death." (Heb. 11:17-19)   We might think this story is about Abraham's faith but we would be missin...

Immanuel (8)

In worship, God imparts himself to us. — C.S.Lewis Immanuel is the most tender name for God; it the name given to Jesus, who came as God in the flesh, giving up all His rights as the King of the universe so that he could walk with us in human flesh. This most humble sacrifice opened wide the door for us to have relationship with Him. The birth of Jesus gives us window into God's heart for us; that He would give up His son so that we might be united with Him. How wonderful this gift from His heart to us! Our Immanuel (God WITH us); our God who desires relationship with us, we love You and worship you. Matthew 1:21-23   She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, [ f ]  because he will save his people from their sins.  ” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said t...

Praying to the Prince of Peace (day 7)

Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden.  — Corrie Ten Boom Our prayers today will focus on Jesus as our Prince of Peace. Many times we come to prayer to find that elusive peace that our hearts long for. We bring to God all of the little things on our minds and whatever is weighing upon our hearts and He promises peace in return. W orship Jesus, the Prince of Peace Lord, You know all of the things that crash against me, shaking me, disrupting my peace and unsettling my spirit. You know about every minor worry I have, every burden I carry and every full-blown anxiety I harbor. The world is full of strife, war, and political unrest where darkness often reigns. This promise to Israel of the hope of a messiah, a savior, speaks to my heart as well. You planned ahead for Jesus to be our prince of peace, the one who would restore the kingdom of light and banish the fear of strife. Thank you for being the Prince of my peace a...
