29- Immutable God

When did He break His promise? When did His kindness fail? Never has, never will My God is still the same When did He lose His power? When did His mercy change? Never has, never will My God is still the same, yeah My God is still the same - Josh Bronleewe / Chris Rohman / Dustin Lolli In a post-modern world, philosophers and theologians attempt to define God in new ways based upon the belief that man has achieved a higher state of being in the 21st century. But God has always been the same, since the beginning of time, throughout Israel's history, in the middle ages of Europe, and today in the bustling tech-dependent world of 2025. Sometimes we read the Old Testament and compare the "God of the Old Testament" to how we understand Jesus in the New testament and we wonder if they are the same God? The attributes of God were present in the flood Noah's days, the calling of Abraham, the rescue of God's people from Egypt, the exile of Israel into captivity, and in J...

28 - Lord (master)

Is Jesus the Lord of your life? This question, asked often from the pulpit, may feel cliche or vague or maybe confrontational and powerful. What does it mean for Jesus to be our Lord (Adonai)? In the Old Testament, if a slave was freed, he could choose to remain with his master and would receive an awl in his ear as a symbol of his voluntary servitude. In the same way, disciples of Jesus choose to follow Him and not only believe in Him, but serve Him with all of their lives. Following Jesus means abiding by the first commandment: You shall have no other gods before me, which is shown by obedience out of love. With gratitude in our hearts for everything that God has given us and done for us, we submit to His rule in our lives, humbling sacrificing our lives to Him (Romans 12:1). And when we make Him the Lord of our lives, He promises blessing and invites us to receive the inheritance of a son of the King. W orship Our Lord God, You are my Lord. This life is no longer mine, but...

27 - King of kings

But seek first his kingdom  and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33  On Palm Sunday, when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people responded to Him like a king returning from battle.  As they cheered for Him and worshipped Him, could they have really understood God's kingdom?  Did they know that it is an upside-down kingdom, where the King of all kings would subject Himself to be treated like a criminal?  That the King of the universe would humble Himself and give up all of His rights?  Jesus, the only holy King, the merciful King, the true King, invites us into His kingdom but we must look carefully to understand how His kingdom differs from the world.   W orship the King of Kings Lord, one day every tongue will declare that You are the King of kings. You will be exalted to Your proper place, and we will see You seated on the throne. I am amazed that You humbled Yourself to become a human and to die a c...

26 - Almighty, Omnipotent, All-powerful God

“Aslan is a lion- the Lion, the great Lion." "Ooh" said Susan. "I'd thought he was a man. Is he-quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion"..."Safe?" said Mr Beaver ..."Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you.” -C.S. Lewis  When I view the majesty of the mountains, rising up thousands of feet into the sky, the top obscured by clouds, I stand in awe.  God's omnipotence is on full display in creation and nature; fierce winds, earthquakes, lightning and thunder declaring God's all powerful nature to us tiny humans.  God's ultimate power was on display especially on resurrection day - Jesus conquered the grave, reversing the effects of nature and bursting forth in glorious power.    We may be facing challenges that seem insurmountable, or fighting battles that feel unwinnable, but we serve a God who is our power when we are weak.  Let us never di...
