22 - Ancient of Days

From Everlasting to Everlasting, You are God.

Psalm 90:2

Many of prayers in the Bible contain descriptions of God's work in the past. Remember when God showed His power, when He proclaimed His nature, when He moved on behalf of His people? This is the same God we pray to today. When we remind ourselves of God's work in history or in our personal lives, we are recounting all the ways He has been good to us. Today we will pray along with the men and women who experienced God throughout history, seeing God's powerful work in their days.

Worship the Ancient of Days

Lord, just like Nehemiah, I look back over history and over my own life and see how You have worked in amazing ways. Your creation reminds me daily of Your majesty, creativity and genuine care for each one of us. I see Your hand of righteousness and mercy in Your Word and I know You as my deliverer personally too. You are the great God, mighty and awesome, who keeps Your covenant of love.

Nehemiah 9:5-8, 26-27, 32-33

“Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise. You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

“You are the Lord God, who chose Abram and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans and named him Abraham. You found his heart faithful to you, and you made a covenant with him to give to his descendants the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites and Girgashites. You have kept your promise because you are righteous.....

“But they were disobedient and rebelled against you; they turned their backs on your law. They killed your prophets, who had warned them in order to turn them back to you; they committed awful blasphemies. So you delivered them into the hands of their enemies, who oppressed them. But when they were oppressed they cried out to you. From heaven you heard them, and in your great compassion you gave them deliverers, who rescued them from the hand of their enemies.

“Now therefore, our God, the great God, mighty and awesome, who keeps his covenant of love, do not let all this hardship seem trifling in your eyes—the hardship that has come on us, on our kings and leaders, on our priests and prophets, on our ancestors and all your people, from the days of the kings of Assyria until today. In all that has happened to us, you have remained righteous; you have acted faithfully, while we acted wickedly.

Appropriate the truth of scripture as you grow in your walk of faith

You are the God of Mary, the God who sent prophecies to light the way for Jesus to be born. What a miracle! History shows Your holiness, Your mercy, Your mighty deeds, and Your kindness to the humble in heart.

Luke 1:47-55 Mary's prayer when the angel came to her

“My soul glorifies the Lord
47     and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49     for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
    holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
    from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
    remembering to be merciful
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”

Light - Walk in the light by openly confessing your sins and need for God

Lord, I remember how the Israelites responded when they returned to the promised land after being exiled and discovered Your law.  When it was read aloud, there was weeping and people turned back to You in sincere repentance.  We are so in need of Your grace and relief from the consequences of sin.

Ezra 9:6, 8

“I am too ashamed and disgraced, my God, to lift up my face to you, because our sins are higher than our heads and our guilt has reached to the heavens.

“But now, for a brief moment, the Lord our God has been gracious in leaving us a remnant and giving us a firm place in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes and a little relief in our bondage

Know Him more and more as you spend time with Him daily

Lord, You are a timeless God but my time on earth is short. As I worship You, the Ancient of Days, today, I recognize my mortality and remember how short this fleeting life is. May my days be filled with Your love, Your joy, and Your favor Lord.

Psalm 90: 12-17

Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Relent, Lord! How long will it be?
    Have compassion on your servants.
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
for as many years as we have seen trouble.
1May your deeds be shown to your servants,
    your splendor to their children.

 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands.

30 - Man of Sorrows

Man of sorrows what a name for the Son of God, who came ruined sinners to reclaim: Hallelujah, what a Savior! P. P. Bliss The Lord is near the broken hearted. Oh what a comfort these words are when pain runs deep and sorrow fills our souls. The weight of the pain in the world is heavy these days and many of us carry much deeper more personal sorrows as well. When tragedy hits, we cannot rewind the tape, we cannot "fix" what went wrong, and we cannot claim to erase sorrows for friends and family. Jesus can heal a broken heart and He can truly be an empathetic friend, a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. He Himself experienced the depth of sorrow caused by the hands of evil men, the pain of betrayal, physical agony we can't imagine, the loss of friends, the slander of His name. He knows our pain. He can walk beside us in these sorrowful days and He will never leave us. W orship Jesus, the man of sorrows Lord, when I am feeling beaten down, depressed, or suffer...

31 Holy Spirit

The Christian life isn’t difficult, it’s impossible—without the power of the Holy Spirit. – Bill Bright – W orship the God in 3 persons: Father, Son and Spirit I praise You Father for sending us the Spirit, our Advocate, who came into the world to teach us and live with us. John 14: 25-27 “All this I have spoken while still with you.   But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.   Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. A ppropriate the truth of scripture as you grow in your walk of faith Lord, Your Spirit is here to show that it is only through believing in Christ that we can be saved. May I, being a Spirit-filled believer, share this message with those around me. Your Spirit is also given so that we might see that only in Jesus i...

29- Immutable God

When did He break His promise? When did His kindness fail? Never has, never will My God is still the same When did He lose His power? When did His mercy change? Never has, never will My God is still the same, yeah My God is still the same - Josh Bronleewe / Chris Rohman / Dustin Lolli In a post-modern world, philosophers and theologians attempt to define God in new ways based upon the belief that man has achieved a higher state of being in the 21st century. But God has always been the same, since the beginning of time, throughout Israel's history, in the middle ages of Europe, and today in the bustling tech-dependent world of 2025. Sometimes we read the Old Testament and compare the "God of the Old Testament" to how we understand Jesus in the New testament and we wonder if they are the same God? The attributes of God were present in the flood Noah's days, the calling of Abraham, the rescue of God's people from Egypt, the exile of Israel into captivity, and in J...
