When Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, they saw the plagues upon their enemies - the boils and sickness leading to death. But God reminded them that He was their healer when He provided fresh water in the desert for them (Exodus 15). We worship the God who healed the widow's son, who brought sight to the blind man, healed lepers, and even raised up Jairus' daughter from the dead. There is no doubt that our God is powerful enough to heal any disease, but we also know from Job's story that not all trouble or sickness is taken away by our Lord. His ways are not our ways and we do not always know what is in His will regarding healing. Praying for healing of loved ones or yourself can always follow the scriptural example and confidently assert that God is able to heal all illnesses when it is within His will.
Worship the God who heals, Jehovah Rapha
You are worthy of our praises Lord, our healer. We see how you heal the brokenhearted and You care for those who are wounded. You are the great Healer and we seek You for the salve that will not only restore our health but restore our spirits.
Psalm 147
Praise the Lord.
How good it is to sing praises to our God,
how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
4 He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.
5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
his understanding has no limit.
6 The Lord sustains the humble
but casts the wicked to the ground.
Appropriate the truth of scripture as you grow in your walk of faith
Lord, I am reminded today that in any and every circumstance, I am to come to You in prayer. You are there for me when I am happy or in trouble, needing forgiveness or sick. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective!
James 5:13-16
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Light - Walk in the light by openly confessing your sins and need for God
Lord, I come to You today with a heart that desires to return to Your ways and live in Your presence. You promise to heal and bind up our wounds, restoring us through the resurrection power of Jesus when we repent and turn to You.
Hosea 6:1-3
“Come, let us return to the Lord.
He has torn us to pieces
but he will heal us;
he has injured us
but he will bind up our wounds.
2 After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will restore us,
that we may live in his presence.
3 Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”
Know Him more and more as you spend time with Him daily
Lord, You came to bring freedom, sight, and healing. How precious is to me that I can rely on You as my healer.
Luke 4:18-21 When Jesus opened up the scroll and read from Isaiah the prophecy:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
